Project 2: Final Artist Statement

I had an idea of where I wanted to take my soundscape, but after recording my own sounds and hearing the other sound files in the shared folder I decided it would be easier to make an exquisite corpse soundscape that took you through a typical day. After going through all the sounds and listening to them I now had a more clear idea of where I wanted to take this project. I started out by adding in audio of an AC unit to give the sense you’re in an apartment or house and then adding in the sound of someone walking down the stairs. I then tried to make this soundscape as realistic as I could trying to make it sound like a typical day for someone doing chores, maybe some homework and driving around. I ended up adding in about 25 sound files and adjusting each of them a bit. This soundscape should make someone imagine they are listening to everyday actions. First starting with walking down the stairs, doing some dishes, typing on the keyboard, maybe doing homework or looking something up, checking outside for the weather and then heading downstairs, grabbing keys and going for a drive. I also added in sounds of closing a car door and wind, some background music as if they are walking past a band play and sounds of someone biking and dogs barking giving the sense your outside before were taken back inside the apartment to do more dishes and cook some food. I really enjoyed this project and editing the sounds to make a soundscape of a typical day in the life.
